It was 1986, Michael Jordan’s second season, and Nike aimed to follow the Air Jordan 1's success with something eye catching — and more compliant with the NBA’s uniform policy. The Air Jordan 2 was influenced by luxury. The sneaker was made in Italy, and designed to resemble high-fashion dress shoes with its faux-lizard skin along the upper. Jordan set an NBA postseason record in the Jordan 2, dropping 63 points on the Celtics in the playoffs.
